ATC has deep roots that extend back over 60 years in Southeast Georgia. Until the mid 1990s, our service area consisted of only Patterson, Nicholls and Alma/Bacon County. When the laws governing telecommunications changed, we saw an opportunity to expand and a need within our area for neighbors to serve neighbors. At ATC, we are committed to providing the best communication products and services via innovative technology.

We have a long history of firsts in our area. In 1998, ATC participated in the construction of the USCarrier fiber network. ATC constructed fiber in Southeast Georgia through Coffee, Bacon, Ware and Pierce counties. This network connected our cities to a regional backbone from Atlanta to Miami and created an opportunity for people in Southeast Georgia to have access to high-speed communication services at competitive prices.

In 2000, ATC was one of the very first companies to offer Wireless Internet. In cooperation with the City of Douglas, ATC installed Internet 2.4 Ghz radios on water towers and other structures in Douglas and Coffee County. We continuously upgrade the wireless network as technology improves.

When other providers were still using conventional circuits for connecting data networks, ATC was first in the area to build fiber networks to each school system. Starting with Bacon County School System, ATC built fiber to each school and interconnected those using Gigabit Ethernet transmitters. Building on our experiences, we went on to build Pierce, Wayne, Coffee, and Ware school systems. We now serve both voice and data needs at each of those systems.

ATC began offering DSL in 2000 in Bacon County. We expanded our service into other counties and continuously upgraded to cover more geographic area. ATC was also the first provider to offer DSL in Douglas, Georgia.

In September of 2004, ATC purchased the Baxley and Blackshear Cable systems. We upgraded the systems and began to offer voice services in July of 2006. ATC provides an alternative to the big local phone company in Baxley and Blackshear and now has over 1,000 phone customers in those areas.

ATC was among the first to bring High Definition television to Southeast Georgia. We built a tower site in downtown Jacksonville and transported the local broadcast stations back to our headend in Alma. ATC now provides both Savannah and Jacksonville local channels in High Definition.
